Telavi Marani Mtsvane Qvevri 2018

Telavi Marani has an impressive ‘qvevri cellar’. With long rows of large earthenware jars, of which only the opening protrudes above the ground. That’s where they make the wine. Because they want to meet the growing demand for Georgian orange wines. And they would like to introduce you to them in an affordable way.

Their Mtsvane is golden yellow with an orange glow. It smells of apricot and tangerine peel. You can taste the dried fruit and the big walnut bitters that are typical of Georgian orange wine. It has tannin in the aftertaste and you really have to eat something with it. Preferably fatty dishes with walnuts, for example, or roast chicken or turkey.
